A rare soundboard recording from the Warren Zevon Collection @ Archive.org from about thirty years ago. My first taste of Warren came in the late 70’s with his 1978 recording “Excitable Boy”, which contained perhaps his three most famous songs; “Werewolves of London”,” Lawyers, Guns and Money” and “Roland the Headless Thompson Gunner.” The title track was one of my favorites too. The lyrics still come into my head occasionally, 40 some odd years later. I always admired Warren for doing things his way, even when it meant not getting the big money contracts. He was one of my song writing heroes – and he played the piano. Perhaps one of the wittiest and most intelligent personalities in Rock and Roll. I would have loved to sit down with him and his good buddy, Carl Hiaasen, one of my favorite fiction writers, over a couple beers. Two hilarious geniuses. Like always, enjoy the show!
