Monday Morning Music #17 – Treesap

Welcome to the Grassland, Ya’ll. This visit takes us to Honesdale, Pennsylvania and the Summer Bluegrass Series at KC Pepper Bar & Grille. That’s a long way from high on the Grassy Plane here in Colorful Colorado but that’s the beauty of the internet. It’s so awesome to have access to all the shows and festivals out there but be sure to get out and support the live music scene wherever you call home.

This show is definitely acoustic bluegrass at it’s finest. The band includes about half the Cabinet crew – JP, Pappy and Dylan. I love the quote on the Cabinet website;

“We were just kids having fun, experimenting and making music with each other….. still are!”

This is a fun show at a small intimate venue. The recording and sound are impeccable. It seems like the Biondo gang were having a family reunion of sorts. Whatever the case might be they had the strings tuned up and were firing on all cylinders and having a lot of fun playin’ some Bluegrass. Pappy Biondo on Banjo, JP Biondo on Mandolin, Dylan Skursky on the bass and Mark Woodyatt on the fiddle. Dave Brown joined in and blew some harmonica with them in set two.

I love the big festivals with all the grass clan spilling their beer on each other as they dance and sing together – one big energetic hive. Shows like this one though are what bluegrass is all about. No electricity needed. A Sunday Funday. Just a few string pluckers, a beautiful summer day in the mountains and an appreciative audience spurring them on. I guess it was raining a little though, but it didn’t slow anyone down. It was still a beautiful day and no one got sunburned. Enjoy the Show!
