I’m trying something new with “Two for Tuesday.” Photography’s a passion of mine and I’ve diligently worked on the craft for forty years or so and still enjoy learning and trying new things . It occurred to me that with high quality cameras in billions of phones, the world’s already littered with images. Why clutter up the web with two more, every Tuesday?
I’m sticking with, “I’m passionate about photography.” It helps me see the environment with different eyes. I slow down and become more aware of my surroundings as I attempt to see the textures, tones, colors and shapes that are all around me. Both images this week are from Brews Brothers, on The Strand, in Galveston, Texas. Shapes, colors, angles and the juxtaposition of dark and light were what drew me into the framing. I love the brick and plaster texture too.

In processing I was pushing for vivid colors and a bit of added drama between the light and dark regions. What’s amazing to me, is being able to get such low noise images in a dark interior, with a phone. Ten years ago, only expensive high end, full frame sensors in bulky DSLR’s were fast enough unless you carried a tripod and took your time to create clean images. Now I can just shoot from the hip with my trusty iPhone Mini, that fits unobtrusively in my hip pocket. What a difference a decade makes.
