A new, old “Radiators” show from about 30 years ago in Denver got posted on the Archive on April Fool’s Day, so I’m sharing it with ya’ll. The Radiators got together about the time I was graduating high school and had the same lineup over thirty years later when they broke up. They were a staple at the Jazz & Heritage Festival in New Orleans, playing there every year the band existed. While they never quite achieved critical commercial success based on charts, graphs, top 40 and album sales, they’re touring legends.
OffBeat Magazine called them New Orleans longest lasting and most successful rock band, though their musical style was much broader than that. They called it “Fish-Head Music.” Whatever you want to call the music, the Radiators were a Party Band from a Party Town and so much fun to listen to. With a repertoire including 100’s of original songs and 1000’s of covers, you never knew what to expect any given show. This is an impressive DAT recording from the Ogden Theatre in Denver and is definitely worth a listen; especially if you’re a Fish-Head aficionado, like me. Enjoy!
