Sonnet #11 – Spring Break

Listen to Sonnet #11 – Spring Break
Barefoot on a Gulf of Mexico beach.
Bright sunshine, breaking waves, birds, salt and sand.
The pale Spring Breakers, hoping to get tanned.
A seagull glides by and let’s out a screech.
A boombox on the shore, plays Bob Marley.
The Island is celebrating Spring Break.
The line at “The Spot,” a snarly, long snake.
From the seawall, the roar of a Harley.
College kids and Bikers guzzle down beer.
Families on quad bikes at Pleasure Pier.
Kites dance on the wind, above the ocean.
Mom slathers her child with sunblock lotion.
There is no place I’d rather be than here.
Galveston Island. The Spring of the year.
