Sonnet #5 – Tree Song

Listen to TreeSong
In Autumn, the Aspen leaves turn to gold.
Shimmering, orange-yellow, like firelight.
Straight, tall, slender trunks, with bark, paper white.
Colors unbelievable to behold.
A majestic Blue Spruce, dressed in soft snow.
Ancient Bristlecone on a high plateau.
Resplendent in the rosy Alpenglow.
Old windswept oak, a tortured little tree.
High on a cliff, above the windy sea.
Cedar and Pinion, in the Sky Islands.
Magical trees of the desert highlands.
Rugged Ponderosa, so tall and strong.
With green pine needles so slender and long.
Trees are nature’s way of singing a song.
