Cold and Flu season kicks off at the end of October and can last until late Spring, with the peak between December and February. Pharmaceutical companies, medical conglomerates, and their partners in the media suggest that every flu season is different and the one step you should take to reduce your risk of serious illness is to get vaccinated. They say an annual vaccination boosts your body’s natural immune system in recognizing and fighting what Pharma companies determine are the most common strains of the flu in any given year.
About 50% of the folks in the US lined up nearly every year for decades to receive their annual booster until the Pandemic debacle. Since then, the percentage of the population lining up has dropped rapidly as people realize how hazardous vaccines can be. Big Pharma profits rely upon scaring people to death about the danger of the seasonal flu so they can sell more vaccines. Numerous studies show that getting an influenza vaccination can make you more likely to become sick from the flu than if you’d gone unvaccinated in many situations.
Cold, Cold, Cold
No one actually knows how dangerous the flu is, so the practice doesn’t make sense to me and my judgement is the vaccine is more dangerous than the illness. Respiratory illnesses are much more prevalent in the cold season, and while the biological mechanisms are still not well understood, fall and winter are associated with a higher occurrence of colds and flu. A recent study showed that cold temperatures cause a decline in the immune response produced by cells in the nasal cavity.
An inefficient immune response is probably the primary driver in contracting an upper respiratory illness, but the cold, nasal cavity concept might be a stretch. The nose can help fight a respiratory infection, however, breathing through the nose produces nitric oxide, an antiviral that fights infection. One of the most potent immune system enhancers is vitamin D or, more importantly, getting some sunshine. As fall turns to winter, we get less sun (UV) and the D that comes with it. Recent research and numerous studies indicate that vitamin D stimulates antimicrobial activity and thus may mitigate respiratory infections.
Sunshine is much safer than a vaccine, too. Especially one containing an aluminum adjuvant. There are vitamin D receptors in many organs, and long-term vitamin D deficiency can induce a wide range of harmful effects. This study found that maintaining a 25-hydroxyvitamin D serum concentration of 38 ng/ml or higher significantly reduced acute viral respiratory illness incidence. Yet, vitamin D is almost never used for influenza. Is that because sunlight is free?
Sugar Season
Another credible theory is that flu season is caused by sugar season, which begins with Halloween and runs through New Year’s. Folks consume tons of refined white sugar and enriched white flour in candies, cakes, pies, and assorted holiday treats, washed down with gallons of alcohol. Consumption of this giant-sized portion of toxic sugars produces a forceful attack on the immune system.
The result of the OND, (October, November, December) sugar storm is the peak of flu season in January and February. The short term effect of the Sugar Storm is a suppressed immune system unable to take the fight to the wee beasties that invade your upper respiratory system. The long term effects of this type of diet are chronic inflammation and reduced nutrient absorption which cause disease and death.
The Big Pharma solution (vaccine) is dangerous and probably less effective at preventing infection than more natural actions like restricting the quantity of sugar consumed over the holidays, getting as much sun as possible, and keeping vitamin D at an adequate level. To be on the safe side, wash your hands now and again.
