A few images from a road trip out to La Grande to get Xam, our new pup.
The Last Bike, Maybe
Surly had their yard sale the other day and I just couldn’t resist. I’ve been jonesing for a proper touring machine for quite awhile and decided now’s the time. I’ll be updating this gallery as the build progresses. If you’re into bikey stuff, be sure to stop back by and watch my last build…maybe.
Another Road Trip
Took the Grandkids back to Texas after the annual Summer stay over. Here are some the images from the trip. The people shots are in the “Family Gallery.”
Cloudscapes
We’ve been getting some amazing weather this year on the High Plains. I’ve been attempting to catch up with some lightning with limited success.
Wichita Falls Alleys
We stopped by Wichita Falls Brewing for a couple brews and some of their exceptional BBQ pizza and walked it off through the alley ways downtown. Shot with the iPhone 12.
The continually updating – iPhone 12 Photo Walk
This gallery is a continually curated random photo walk. The 12 mini fits comfortably in a pocket yet can take exceptional images.

Kansas Again
We take another spin through Western Kansas on a Fridays are for Fun – Road Trip.
Three Corners
Another Fun Friday Adventure. We looped up North to Three corners, where Nebraska and Kansas meet up with Colorado. We danced in three states at the same time, stopped by Uppa Crib Tap Room and the Tumbleweed Brewpub to; you guessed it, drink beer. That’s what Friday’s are all about right? Well we had plenty of fun.
Kansas Motorcycle Museum
The Kansas Motorcycle Museum has some incredible bikes. It is well worth a stop when you find yourself in Northwestern Kansas. They have some amazing bikes on display. Click on in for a look at a few of them.
Let’s Try Tribune
Another in the “Fridays are for Fun” Series. We visit Tribune, in Greeley County, Kansas for some Disc Golf and lunch.
The Leavenworth & Pike’s Peak Express & Beyond
A set of images from the “Fridays are for Fun” series. We stumbled onto this historic stage route on one of our Friday adventures. Most of the images are using the Full Frame Nikon but a few are with the amazing iPhone.
Ophir Creek
Went on a Camping trip recently to Field Test the new tent. Here’s a few images from our adventure.
Bent’s Old Fort
We stopped in and toured Bent’s Old Fort when we were down in the valley the other day. Here’s a few images.
Melon Run
Road Trip down to Rocky Ford to collect some summertime gold. Here’s a few images from our Melon Run.
Golden Hour on the High Plains
Back and forth to the airport in Denver a couple times the last few days. Took the Df along and captured a few images. Check ’em out.
Salida Photo Walk
We were is Salida, Colorado recently during the FIBArk festival. We spent an entire day wandering around town enjoying the sights, sounds, food and beer. Here are a few images taken with the iPhone 12.
From The Bike
A few shots from my Gravel Road Adventures on the High Plains. Sometimes my eye is drawn to colors but usually it is shapes that attract my eye. Here are a few shots from my recent two wheeled excursions on the incredible Gravel Roads in Eastern Colorado.
Englewood Photo Walk
I took a stroll around Old Englewood and captured a few images with the 12. I lived here off and on back in the 70’s and 80’s. Things have changed quite a bit in 40 years but a lot of the old landmarks are still around too. It was a fun walk, there are plenty of art pieces and murals as well as some interesting architecture to shoot.
A Random Walk Down South Pearl Street
I took a walk down South Pearl Street while in Denver the other day. Still love the 12 mini and captured a few images with it. The full frame Nikons are still better for serious shooting but they don’t fit the front pocket of my jeans very well.
On The Edge
Exploring the edge of the High Planes. Where the Deer and the Antelope Play! Everything is so green and beautiful this spring.
Left Behind on the High Planes
The High Plains of Eastern Colorado were settled in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s. The region boomed for a few decades. Plenty of rain led to bumper crops and people kept moving into the area until the Dust Bowl Era of the 1930’s. The drought chased most of the folks back out. There was a resurgence in the 40’s and 50’s as the drought eased and oil discoveries created some local booms but in most of the region, the living is tough, with few amenities and most folks packed it in, moving on to greener pastures. This gallery focuses on the decay and weathering away of what they left behind.
Across the High Planes
This gallery contains most of the images from a trip in late February / early March 2021 from The Emerald City to Kemah, Texas and back. See posts: “On The Road Again” and “No Place Like Home.”
