I ran into this trio of youngsters the other day while thumbing through recent shows in “The Archive” and they’re freakin’ awesome. It was the band name that drew me in but once I listened to a few tracks I was blown away. Then when I learned that they’re young enough to be my grandchildren I was totally intrigued. Seeing this generation embrace the genre is so exciting and they are embracing it – Billy Strings leading the charge.
We are consistently seeing exciting new talent pop up all across the country. Broken Compass Bluegrass is taking the Northern California music scene by storm and they know how to pick and sing. Don’t let their ages fool you, they’re amazingly talented musicians and seasoned songwriters. They all started playing music at very young ages and it shows. BCB is based in the Grass Valley, CA. They got together in 2021 and are presently making waves. Catch the wave folks.
This is an older show from this spring, before they added base player Sam Jacobs to the band. It’s a soundboard recording with exceptional sound and shows off their incredible talent better than the more recent shows, (in the Archive). They played two sets at Sierra Pines and since they are so awesome, we’ll stretch them out for another Monday Morning Music, next week. You’ll definitely want to come back for set #2. Enjoy the Show!
